I am back online with my blog thanks to borrowing someone’s proxy server. Without using it all access to my blog (and most Google products except their Chinese search page) is in fact blocked by the wonderful Chinese firewall. Except for that and the fact that the BBC is also blocked I have found using in the internet in China not to be so troublesome so far.
So today was a nice day in Shanghai so I took the no. 2 subway line over to Pudong and had lunch at the Grand Hyatt. It is located in this building.
As the lobby is on the 54th floor, you get nice views from the restaurant. The rooms are on even higher levels so I expect the views are really great on a clear day.
The only problem is the price I think. Lunch wasn’t bad, compared to what you might pay in Paris or New York. A ceasar salad, club sandwich, and a coke set me back 287 RMB which is about 30 EUR. However, I think rooms here start at about $250 a night. Which again isn’t bad compared to NYC or Tokyo but then again, this is China and things are supposed to be cheap here.
