He also narrowly missed a birdie putt at the par-three fifth, where the distractions of a cackle of gunfire from an automatic weapon and a bugle salute from an adjoining army base brought a smile to his face.

- NYT article talking about Tiger Wood’s play during the final round of the HSBC Champions in Shanghai.

Tiger finished 2nd to Yang Yong-eun from Korea.

I don’t recall automatic gunfire ever being mentioned as a distraction at a U.S. PGA tour event. Welcome to China!

Shanghai, and many cities in China, have an enormous amount of contruction work going on. Right next to where I live a 10 story building has just gone up in the past month. Related to this (or maybe not) someone has decided to re-do the entire road in the back of my complex. Construction, sometimes, goes very fast here because they work around the clock. On the other hand it means at 8:30pm on a Sunday night you have construction workers putting down a new road just outside where you live. Fortunately they are not too noisy tonight, but I hope they keep this pace up and get whatever they are doing done ASAP.

Since I had a pass that covered the whole weekend, I went out again to the gof tournament this morning. I wanted to see the pros on the range and, once again, there was Tiger.

Tiger and Jim

The weather was just about perfect for golf. Unfortunately Tiger wasn’t looking too sharp when I saw him on the front nine. My money is on Retief Goosen.
