My flight back to Shanghai on Saturday wasn’t until the late afternoon, so I have a couple of hours to look around the Forbidden City.
Besides being rainy, a lot of Forbidden City is undergoing renovation right now. The big building in the background is the Hall of Supreme Harmony. Still it was quite an impressive sight.

I also checked out the controversial Starbucks located within the Forbidden City. Actually I was expecting something more noticeable given all that has been written about having Starbucks invade the sanctity of this national treasure. Actually it was just a little corner in a building that also has a bookshop. It is located just behind where the people are sitting in the picture below.
