I ran across this wedding invitation while doing my spring cleaning. If you’ve ever wondered what a “typical” wedding invitation in China looks like, here it is. Of course I am kind of assuming this is typical since I’ve only gotten a couple during my year here. Red is, predictably, a popular color in China and there is lots of gold trim. To be honest I haven’t seen many wedding invitation from the US, but as I recall they are usually white and quite simple… Actually, no I’m wrong. I just did a search on Flickr for wedding invitations and in fact it looks like most people are going with a wide variety of colors and designs. I guess this reflects how easy and relatively inexpensive it is now a days to have a unique design.
The weather recently in Shanghai has been quite spring like. Warm temperatures and partly sunny days. The weather made me think this would be a good time to do some spring cleaning of my office. I cleaned off the desk and went through my drawers. Most of the documents I deal with are confidential so it is not easy just to throw them away. On the other hand, the company paper shredder is a poor excuse for an office machine. It is more like a play thing for someone to use at home and not for someone like me who needs or wants to shred hundred of pages of paper in one sitting. So for now it is all in a box waiting for me to do something with it. Still it is nice to have everything cleaned up and at least looking like I am an organized person.
