About Me

I am a native of Michigan. Spent some time in Nebraska and Massachusetts before moving back to Michigan when I was in the 3rd grade. After graduating from a high school in the suburbs of Detroit, I went to university in North Carolina. One major reason for this being that the weather in North Carolina is much nicer than lower southeastern Michigan!

I’ve been living and working outside of the USA since graduating from college in ‘94. I’ve been fortunate enough to spend quite a few years in Japan, but also have had the chance to live in the Netherlands, France, and China. I moved back to Tokyo in the summer of 2007 and that’s where I am now.

I started getting into photography as a hobby just after moving back to Tokyo. I’ve been enjoying both the artistic side of taking (or I should say, trying to take) interesting photographs as well as the gear. I use a Nikon D300 now along with some nice lenses. Since I got back into photography this blog has basicallly turned into a place to show my photos and write about where I took them.

I write this blog mostly for my family back in the US. If it’s interesting to someone else…all the better.

Thanks for dropping by!

Sincerely,
Justin @ Hamarikyu
