Nice work on New Year's morning. It sounded like an interesting experience. I read Alfie's blog on the 'events' of the morning. Sounds like the drunk local added a bit more tension to the situation than you bargained for. I hope you are now caught up on your sleep.

happy new year! I've been following your photos for almost 2 years now too and I certainly hope they keep on coming, together with the descriptions - from which i learn how Japan has changed over the 5 years since I've been there. Thanks.

You have taken some really good shots with this lens so far Justin. I'll try to keep 'the other lens' away from you for a few weeks, just in case you get a yearning for it... :-)

Keep it up mate. You are turning out some lovely pictures at the moment.

Justin - Love your blog which Margaret (future mom) put me on to. When I lived in England (centuries ago) I missed pancakes too and could not enjoy them until visiting in Malta and the 7th fleet was in port. To make pancakes: 1 or 2 cups flour, @ 1 cup milk, egg or eggs (depending on how much you're making, one usually enough), melted butter which you melt in your frying pan, some salt and 1 teaspoon baking powder ((this helps make the pancakes lighter). Stir this all up..if a bit lumpy, don't worry Should be fairly thick. Medium heat, have patience, let them cook until bubbles appear (take a peek to see they are coloring) and then flip and cook until light tap sounds hollow. Voila!! Delicious expecially if you can find some Vermont maple syrup....

See you in Las Vegas. You probably haven't heard their new marketing slogan, but it is "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas". Good advice! Hopefully you've been playing pachinko to get warmed-up for the slot machines.

Hi Justin

Really furniture, appliances etc cost a lot of money. I remeber at the time a married. We have to spend so much at this time which we never did later on. But keep in mind usually you will not have to do it quite often.

I hope you will have a time to relax from your busy job during 2008. Enjoy your free time.

I remember trying Pocari Sweat (possibly the best name of all the drinks) on my first trip to Japan. It wasn't too bad as I recall, fruity and sweet. I did enjoy the hot coffee in a can. Pre-sweetened and with a little cream already in the can, it was great on cold morning!
